Horizon Europe and Japan
Horizon Europe is the EU flagship programme for research and innovation. It sets the best minds in Europe and the rest of the world at work to deliver excellent solutions to the key issues of our time, supporting the EU’s policy priorities and building a better future for the next generation in Europe.
The programme facilitates research and innovation and strengthens its impact, while tackling global challenges.
It supports creating and better dispersing of excellent knowledge and technologies.
Horizon Europe also emphasizes international cooperation, and Japanese legal entities can participate.
2021 marks the 10th anniversary of signing the EU-Japan Science and Technology Cooperation. In 2018 EU and Japan signed EU-Japan Strategic Partnership and in 2020 a Letter of Intent on Strengthening Cooperation in STI. Science and technology cooperation between the EU and Japan is welcomed.
Japanese researchers can apply to programmes targeted at individuals such as MSCA and ERC, while Japanese organisations can apply to research projects (RIA/IA), exchange activities (MSCA) or support actions(CSA).
As National Contact Point (NCP) in Japan we support Japanese researchers to participate in Horizon programme. Read more about NCP Japan.
